Dear Pam
Hope you and your husband had a wonderful 4th this year...
a few random thoughts...
I really wish you teachers made a ton more money..I really respect you for what you do.
My best bud in the world teaches 5th grade math..
The pay scale suks..Sorry.
Without you and other 'instructors', where would we be?
2) think about a book..there is always room for someone as smart as you that can explain the universe to people as dumb as me :)
3) Someday you may run a major observatory..how sweet is that?
4) You may have a student that someday runs a major observatory...
5) I leave your blog now for awhile..Our young son, a marine, leaves us sunday for california and then Iraq..Our family will live in turmoil, fear, hope and prayers for many forthcoming months.. and my dreams of the stars will be on standby for the dream of safety and of this ugly world we call earth and it's wars.
Bless you Pam..keep fighting the fight to bring the vision of the heavens to us on terra firma.

I mentioned Genesis 2 as one of the news items at this past monday's astronomy club. I embellished with the stated goal of eventually putting up a space hotel, and the concept that inflatable structures are likely really alot easier and cheaper to get into orbit than big tin cans. I did not mention the ISS, how much money has been spent on it, or that LLNL proposed that the ISS be constructed with inflatables really quite early on.

Despite being a room full of people who are self selected as interested in astronomy and space, it seemed as if it was news to most.

I've heard of them because I'm interested in these things. I'm also good at spotting the tiny astronomy/space related articles in the local newspapers.

Vergin Galactic being the one that got most attention over here but I dout more than 2 people in my old class knew what it was.
