Of Bacon and Erdos
Tuesday, 6th October 2009
And now for something entirely silly
I have an Erdos Number of no more than 6.
For certain:
Wheeler (3) -> Shetron -> Lambert->Me
(I suspect it’s actually 1 lower because Lamber published A LOT, but I haven’t found the path yet)
My Bacon number is no more than 4 3
Kevin Bacon -> Maud Winchester -> Edward Olmos ->Brad Dourif -> Kevin Grazier -> Me
Sooooo…
My Erdos-Bacon number is thus 10 9 (but probably 8).

OMG OMG OMG. I want an Erdos number so badly that I will provide a free illustration for publication to anyone with a single-digit Erdos number!!!!
According to The Oracle of Bacon, Dr. Kevin R. Grazier has a Bacon number of 2, via the movie The Great War of Magellan with Brad Dourif, who was in Murder In The FIrst with Kevin Bacon.
Thus your Bacon number is no more than 3, assuming you count documentaries.
i have no idea of my erdos number but since I once stage managed a reading with K Bacon, I usually have a Bacon separation of two or three.
You win! I’m glad you finally found out what your number is.
What’s an Erdos number ?
You can read about Erdos Numbers here: http://www.oakland.edu/enp/
I think you might really enjoy a recent episode of the terrific WNYC podcast RadioLab, all on Numbers. One major segment is on Erdos, and it’s a fascinating story:

Actually, my all-time favorite episode of RadioLab was the one they did on Space:

Highly recommended. Along with AstronomyCast, of course!
